Biography & Tour
Formed in 1994 by bandleader Thomas Lauderdale, Pink Martini is a musical collective with a dozen members who perform in multiple languages and write songs that they say are “in the style of old-fashioned Hollywood musicals and Italian, French and Brazilian films of the 1940s and ’50s.” The band’s debut album was released in 1997.
Pink Martini has collaborated with many artists over the years, including Rufus Wainwright, The von Trapps, Ari Shapiro, Meow Meow, Michael Feinstein, Hugh Jackman, Chavela Vargas, Jimmy Scott, Jane Powell, Debby Boone, Berkeley Repertory Theater and Oregon Symphony.
The group has appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts and A Prairie Home Companion, and has performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, the Kennedy Center Honors, and the Governor’s Ball at the U.S. Capitol.
